Amelia, Tell us about yourself & what you do.
My name is Amelia Sonny. I was born in Trinidad and moved to NYC when I was 8 years old. I am a woman of all trades. I am currently the CEO & Founder of The Matchmakers Team. We are your one stop shop for all things real estate related. I am also the CEO & Founder of Dance Away Studios. Dance Away meets the needs of any individual looking to free themselves from their reality through dance. Lastly, I am a behavior therapist specializing in individuals on the autism spectrum.
That's amazing! What is the most important factor behind your success?
One name. Jesus. The most important factor behind my success is the God I serve. Without him, I am nothing. He’s provided the circle of people that are my biggest supporters. He’s given me the patience, strength, and endurance needed for this path.
Beautifully said! Please tell us, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
When you’re starting of as an entrepreneur, you have this notion that you have to work around the clock. 2 years into the business, I discovered that’s an easy way to become burnt out. So from then till date, I currently prioritize my well being and my personal relationships above my business. As I tell my coaching students; when your time is up, you won’t regret finishing a business transaction, you’ll regret the time you didn’t spend with your loved ones.
Wow! What inspires you?
Being an immigrant and having parents whose desire is my happiness, is enough for me to stay inspired through all my pursuits. I refuse to live a mediocre life and I will pursue any and everything God has put in my heart.
