Anthony "AJR" Ramotar, Kings of Diversity
Toronto, Ontario [Canada]
AJR! Please tell us about yourself.
My name is Anthony Ramotar, known to many as AJR from the King of Diversity (KOD). I currently produce various mixtapes for KOD as well as tracks for various artists. I occasionally MC private, corporate, and club events and manage the day-to-day operations of KOD.
That's awesome! How long have you been in your respective industry?
In the industry, I would say 19 years if we are talking about Acid Planet. I had many names before I found my actual brand and identity. If we really go back, the fascination with cross-fading and putting music together came at a younger age. I remember I used to take my Sony Walkman, plug it in to these real cheap computer speakers, and with the help of a boombox and the volume knob, I went back and forth between tracks on CDs. Then, at around the age of 11 or 12, I started getting more music, loading it onto VDJ and actually started to remix. At 13, I started off on Acid Pro (I still have the first remixes burned on an album, for nostalgia purposes, lol) and throughout the years, I built my craft into what it is today.
Around the age of 16–17, my first album dropped under a different label and brand. From that point for 13 years, my mix/remix catalogue grew exponentially over the years in various genres. During this time, I had the pleasure of gaining tons of experience and creating lifelong friendships. About six years ago, I re-branded, and with the help of my wife Neelu15 and my brothers Stevero Music and Jay Herbz the KINGS OF DIVERSITY was born, and the rest ... well, you all are seeing it now.
What is the most important factor behind your success?
Real easy... THE KINGS OF DIVERSITY.
That's right, the KINGS OF DIVERSITY have been the most important factor in my success over the years, aside from the unending support of my wife, family, brothers, and friends. KOD's success has granted me the ability to work with super talented artists, remixers, producers, and more in the music and entertainment categories. It has recently opened even more doors into the private, club, and corporate event spaces for us as well.
The Kings of Diversity have one goal, and that is to unite everyone as it is "ONE SOUND for the people". We believe in the music we put out, and that music has been taking us many places since and even more in the future.
Amazing, what is the most memorable event that happened to you in your industry?
It has to be realizing that my creative ideas are now someone else's favourite song, mix, remix, playlist, or whatever you want to call it. I came from extremely humble beginnings, and I never once was one to gloat about my work. However, to have the ability to hear your work being played across the globe, achieving insane numbers alongside my family with 2 million+ listens, an album catalogue of over 100 with 100s* of remixes, with endless events, collaborations, concepts, and more... the gratitude and appreciation I have for that... I personally am speechless even thinking about it.
Special Shoutouts:
To my wife Neelu15, my daughter Lil AJR, my brothers Stevero Music, Jay Herbz, NSB, NAVI from UNIQUESOUNDZ/WRO, Anthony, Raymond, and Richard from DEN/Bakyard Studios, I just want to thank you all so much for inspiring, supporting, trusting me, and believing in the KOD brand, but... honestly speaking... in me throughout the years.
The entire Unique Soundz family, WRO (Zaheer), TAKEOVER FAMILY and all the individuals that have played a part in this success, apart from everyone within the brand. To these amazing people, I hold you all close to my heart. I can't imagine how things would be today if you weren't rooting for not only KOD but also for me.
To all the fans and supporters, you all are nothing short of amazing. Thank you for believing in the Kings of Diversity and in me. You all are instrumental to our success, and we couldn't be more grateful to you all.
Is there anything you currently have in the works or any recent accomplishments you'd like to brief the audience about?
Follow the Kings of Diversity and myself to find out ;).
Thank you! At last, any advice for the readers?
No one is ever too big and no one is ever too small; it all starts with one... One Follow, One Like, One Review, One Repost, whatever it is, it all starts with one, and the only place to go is up.
Appreciate the beginning, learn to love the process, and stay humble at all times.
