Avinash, please tell us about yourself.
I am 29 year old, Avinash Sookraj better known as ClimaxXx in the entertainment industry. I'm a pharmacist by profession but my love for music started at a very young age. I began my musical career as DJ ClimaxXx and then ventured into singing shortly after.
As a young, upcoming artiste, I'm proud to have worked alongside numerous legends in the music fraternity such as Ustad Jameer Hosein (may his soul rest in peace), Mrs Danadayea Narine, The Baron & more. 3 years ago I took the decision to create a platform to fairly promote chutney soca music and all the artistes in our industry.
Masala Entertainment has since grown into one of the most prominent forums for chutney and chutney soca music with over 50k followers on Facebook alone.
What is the most memorable event that happened to you?
My most memorable event would have to be my 2019 CSM Final performance of my song Baigan Choka. Reason being, it was the only CSM performance my mom got to see before she passed away later that year.
What sets you apart from someone else in your industry?
Generally, I like to think that I have a different approach from my friends in the industry. My belief is that the sky is the limit and I don't take no for an answer. I strive for versatility in my career. I've done covers from bollywood to dancehall and even original chutney soca/traditional chutney tracks, which were well accepted by my supporters and that motivates me to continuously improve my craft. My biggest competitor is myself so I am always aiming to do better than I did before. This is what I would say sets me apart.
Amazing, tell us about your hobbies outside of your work?
They say do what you love and you'll never work a day in your life. And I live by this. I genuinely love what I do. But, outside of my career, I enjoy going to the beach or to the movies. Spending time with family and friends is also something I love.

Is there anything you currently have in the works or any recent accomplishments you'd like to brief the audience about?
Well I always have stuff in the works. There are a number of tracks that I've done and haven't released yet, videos as well. But I do have one in particular that I'm especially excited about. It's a collaboration with the original queen of chutney soca, Drupatee. For me, she played an integral role in bringing chutney and chutney soca to where it is today and I am more than humbled for the opportunity to work with such a legend.
At last, any advice for the readers?
Basically, just be yourself. Always follow your dreams and don't give up no matter how hard it seems. Slow progress is still progress so just keep moving forward.
