DJ JonJat, tell us about yourself.
DJ JONJAT aka Jon aka my full name lol born February 10th 1988 in Queens NY. I grew up listening to everything from 80s and 90s. If it was HOT 97 Z100 KTU them times music I was listening to it. Started collecting music after seeing a dj play a back yard party. I got my Soca Dancehall from the Jamaica Ave. Got the Indian Chutney from Liberty. I started remixing in 2002 when I moved to Orlando FL out of boredom cus I heard kid at school said he was in a battle on Acid Planet. I got my first DJ set in 2003 and like all upcoming DJS I played music in my bedroom and studied the craft of mixing. 1st club gig in 2005 been in the scene since then. I got a nice resume for a COOLIE DJ ;) Other then music I own a business called The Moxie Workshop which is a design studio specializing in custom wedding invitations, stationery and signage, and small business branding.
Awesome! How do you spend your day, or what does an ordinary day look like for you?
I have a 7 year old in school so my day starts at 6am with emails and any admin work I have for my business. 7am breakfast and school drop offs till about. At 9am I get my exercise in till about 11am. 12 noon I do all my business work for The Moxie Workshop. I kinda juggle between graphics/visual design work and my DJ work most of the day til about 4pm. Pick up my daughter, then its family time. Some video games after dinner to wind down and a some YouTube or TikToks till I pass out. Some times its in this order but this is what I do every day M-F sometimes on the weekends if i'm not DJing
Jon, what are you inspired by?
It gets me inspired to see someone hungry full of ambition to accomplish something.Ive seen some people get to a level and are content to just ride that one wave. Someone hungry will continue to push for more out of choice.
Great answer! How long have you been in your respective industry?
20+ Years. Primarily a Soca Dj I have been told lol, but i'm very open format. I've played for clubs from the east coast to the west cost. Orlando, Miami, Fort Fort Lauderdale, Tampa, Jacksonville pretty much all over Florida. Ive been to New York , New Jersey, Atlanta, Los Angeles. International gigs to Guyana and Jamaica.

Lastly, any advice for the readers?
Stay in school and get a job lol. So then you don't have to be under cutting Dj :) Keep your standards high and remember you are a brand so put a price on it. Yesterday price is not todays price.
