Powerhouse, please tell us about yourself.
My name is Kevin, mostly known as Powerhouse. I was Born and raised in New York for most of my life. While in New York, I started out my passion for music by growing up watching & going with my father (The original Powerhouse) to different events every single weekend and noticing how happy he was providing quality entertainment to different families. This was the ultimate beginning of me saying to myself, that's it this is what i want to be capable of growing up. So said so done, by the age of 8 i did my first solo event at a Sweet sixteen in queens New York. After that night it was an instant love and passion for this industry called music. Starting from Vinyls, to tapes, to CD's to eventually laptop software has really taught me the evolution of music, to be grateful for today's tools, and to never forget where i started from. Fast forward 20 years later after, lots of sacrifices, changes, obstacles, I can proudly say from the bottom of my heart i am thankful for it all that leads to having a successful Production / Sound Engineering / Disk Jockey business known as Powerhouse International. Many people would say that its just a business, but to me its more than that. To me its a love for music and the industry, its a passion and dedication to provide quality entertainment to the best of my capabilities every single weekend. Most importantly its the amazing feeling at the end of the night to get that handshake or that hug from the customer or attending guest saying thank you for an amazing night.
Awesome! What is your favorite quote of all time, and why?
Growing up in upstate New York, aspiring to network and grow as a young Dj in those times was definitely a challenge yet a great experience to never forget to keep your feet planted on the ground at all times no matter the progress. During this time is when I met a Dj outside of Club illusion when it recently opened, that told me these few words that has helped contribute to my progress numerous times that I cant even count. He said "Kev always remember this. Whether its 5 People or 5000 People, always give your best and put out your best. You never know where it might take you."
What is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor I would have to say, is constant dedication & sacrifices. Literally being born and growing up in this business definitely does not give you the opportunity to have a regular childhood or be a regular person at all. During the week while working a day job, your spending your free time communicating with clients & customers to ensure to produce their dream wedding and tending to their special requests. Other days are spent ensuring equipment is all functioning to its potential, upgrading if necessary to ensure no mistakes or mishaps on the day of the event. Lastly scheduling and planning with your team to ensure every event is covered from top to bottom every single weekend.
Amazing, what are you inspired by?
My Inspiration to keep going, pushing myself and abilities further and further would have to be just a few simple things. Firstly, I vowed to myself to take the high standards that i watched my dad give out growing up every single weekend to never drop. He told me and as well taught me to never look for the fame or fortune, do it from your heart and it will never steer you wrong. Hearing this over and over is what helped me to base my passion for this business in the first place. Being able to take what he has built single handedly and his blessing to reach for the stars going forward has been by far the biggest inspiration to me. Secondly and most importantly to me is witnessing and going home knowing, I sent a crowd of hundreds of people home at the end of the night with huge smile on their face from dancing and singing the night away has to be the most amazing feeling in the world to me. Lastly its being able to share my experiences and lessons learned through those very experiences, with other DJs/ Sound Crew/Engineers, in the community to learn from each other is truly inspiring. Seeing other members in this same community succeed with their goals and ambitions set for themselves definitely pushes me to accomplish the same for myself.

Best advice I would tell anyone? As impossible as it may seem with whatever obstacles stand in your way, DO NOT STOP. If you truly want to accomplish your goals in this industry for yourself, put in the work, remain humble, respectful, and never stop reaching for the starts.
